Coaching Methodology

Coaches emphasize safe practices, rugby IQ and training essentials. They adopt a player-centric approach to maximize your development during and after camp.

Sessions cover ball handling, passing, running angles, tackling, rucking, scrum & line-outs specifics, attack & defense phases, video analysis, physical conditioning, recovery techniques, nutrition & mental preparation…

Coaches establish a personal rapport and communicate constantly with players. They run a players’ assessment and group players according to rugby IQ. Training volume & intensity is adapted to the performance level of each group. They also assess your individual challenges and strengths to create a personalized development plan.

Montpellier Herault Rugby

Professional club owned by Mr. M. Altrad and coached by Mr. V. Cotter, MHR has nurtured 102 international players who total 3,053 caps for 18 countries

MHR was born in 1986 after the merger of the Stade Montpéllierain (1907) and the Montpellier Université Club Rugby (1921). 

The new stadium inaugurated in 2007 includes a “Bodega”, several restaurants, a gift shop, and offices for both the professional team and the academy. The campus includes a secured minor dorm and an adult quarter. Facilities include numerous grass pitches, synthetic fields, fitness & wrestling rooms, video analysis rooms, classrooms, multiple locker-rooms, and TV & game rooms…

The Academy

MHR has a long tradition of youth program development. Consistently ranking among the top rugby academies in France, MHR youth teams participate every year in multiple finals and win numerous titles.

52% of MHR elite graduates have become Professionals, Olympians or International players….

The Academy staff includes world-rugby level 3 coaches, assistant coaches, program supervisor, doctors, physiotherapists as well as both female and male international players such as Gaëlle Mignot. Active Elite 1 player, Gaelle’s current player record includes: 5x Elite 1 Champion, 70 caps & National Team Captain, 3x 6 Nations winner- 2 Grand Slams, 2 World Cup participation – 3rd place in 2017.

Camps include 3 daily healthy meals and snacks and propose multiple accommodation alternatives on and off campus.

Montpellier

The 2nd largest city in Occitanie after Toulouse, Montpellier is one of the fastest growing cities in France and a destination of choice for both tourists and students.

Montpellier is situated 10 km (6 mi) inland from the coast and benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with mild, damp winters, and hot, rather dry summers.

  • The student body represents nearly 1/3 of its population, and the city is the home of the Université de Montpellier, which hosts the oldest Medical School in operation (1289) and numerous leading academic institutions and R&D centers.
  • With Mediterranean beaches and the Pyrenees nearby, the city offers multiple outdoor activities. Montpellier supports several sporting events such as the Fise, Festikite or the Open Sud de France de tennis. It is also the home of Olympians and of 28 sport clubs including 8 elite ones.
  • With an iconic “café scene” and a laid-back Mediterranean atmosphere, Montpellier has a brainy but youthful vibrant feel. The city hosts a variety of cultural events such as the Festival de Radio France & Montpellier, the Estivales, and the Montpellier Dance Festival, among many others.

  • If cancellation is received between 90 days and 61 days prior to the camp start date, you are entitled to a 50% refund
  • If cancellation is received between 60 days and 31 days prior to the camp start date, you are entitled to a 30% refund
  • If cancellation is received is received less than 30 days prior to the camp start date, you are entitled to a 0% refund
